Turin is the home of cinema for 2020, so let's get ready for "a year-long film".
The bond that unites Turin to cinema is a strong one. A love that has far-reaching roots, an attraction always paid for, a profound union that will give us emotions and experiences throughout the new year. Just like in a film, exciting events await us in the city throughout 2020, events that recall the cinematographic vocation of the Piedmontese capital and celebrate an important birthday: the twentieth anniversary of the National Cinema Museum, housed inside the famous Mole Antonelliana, symbol and city icon.
Built in the nineteenth century by the Novara architect Antonelli, the mythical Mole was initially designed as a synagogue before becoming the property of the Municipality of Turin which entrusted the setting up of the museum dedicated to the seventh art to the Swiss scenographer François Confino. And this is certainly not a traditional museum, because the basic idea is that of a complete immersion in the art of cinema: in fact the path unfolds in an interactive itinerary spread over several levels, within a space that develops in an upwards spiral, in a spectacular scenographic setting.
Costumes, sets and posters, scenographies, but also plays of light, special effects and historical reconstructions: the visitor finds himself involved in a journey full of unexpected visual and auditory stimuli, just as if he were participating in a real projection. To complete the experience, many multimedia stations and areas dedicated to various cinematographic genres, from westerns to musicals to science fiction.
Right in the center of the large space inside the dome, a transparent panoramic lift crosses the entire structure and allows you to climb to 85 meters in height, up to the terrace from which you can admire the wonderful profile of the city.
Events, meetings, screenings, previews and guided tours will characterize the life of Turin in the next twelve months, a busy calendar of initiatives to celebrate a city with a "cinema-friendly" soul. Or if you prefer ... a real Oscar city.
The important thing is to be ready for the clapperboard!
