Far from the crowded places, immersed in the tranquility of the La Darbia vineyard, a truly ecological day that smacks of distant traditions.
Whoever comes to La Darbia knows this well, our holidays are always full of emotions and well-deserved relaxation is combined with new and interesting activities, experiences that you carry home in the "suitcase of the heart".
What awaits us in October is the great ritual of the harvest, a joyful and intense journey through rows of vines to cut the ripe grapes.
The heady scent of grapes, hands tinged with violet-nebbiolo, the fresh air that expands our lungs and warms our hearts ... The "zac" of scissors and the laughter of children ... Every element sings of health, of joy, of sharing.
Regulated by ancient rituals, the harvest represents a true symbol of the industriousness of man and his ability to make the land bear fruit, creating delicious products through the wise cultivation of the fields. A true metaphor of the cycle of life, especially if we think that the Bible attributes to Noah the discovery of the wine-making process. Right after the mythical Flood, this legendary character would have planted a vineyard with the fruit from which he made wine that he drank ... until he got drunk!
In the past, the days of the harvest were the most anticipated by the peasants: with autumn the time also came to take stock of an entire year of work and hard work not always rightly repaid. Even today we spend long months removing the weeds from the rows, treating the grapes, spraying the verdigris, pruning the branches. And finally, in September, the fruits of so many labours are gathered.
While the red boxes quickly fill up, our extraordinary chef (follow him on social media, he is @matteomonfrinotti) together with the staff of the restaurant of La Cucina sets up a splendid table to celebrate the harvest with a lunch to be enjoyed outdoors and in company.
A real party awaits us, a carefree day, a convivial moment of simple but profound and intense joy.
The juicy clusters will soon make their way to the cellar, where the extraordinary expertise of our wine-making friends will transform the grapes into a celestial nectar.
The fermentation in the vats and the maturation of the contents in the bottle will give us an extraordinary wine, which we will be able to enjoy perhaps as early as next year ... Maybe with friends who helped us harvest today!
For now, I greet you with the hope of a season full of authentic things, like our harvest, and with a toast to your health: as we say in Italy ... CIN CIN!
