No, not the Giro d'Italia... just a comfortable (and comforting) ride around Lake Orta. Thanks to the miracle of the e-bike.

Drin drin... ringing along the road that comes out of La Darbia I am going to spend a beautiful sunny afternoon, riding a fantastic new generation bicycle.

The two wheels are really a beloved means of transport, which boasts thousands of professional enthusiasts, but also simple enthusiasts who use the bike especially in the summer to enjoy the fresh air and the natural landscape. Here I do just that: calmly savoring the silence of the forest, I take the so-called "Blue Ring" and pedal happily.
The bicycle seems really perfect for me to follow the contours of Lake Orta, to respect its tranquility and to stop every now and then to admire the most suggestive views.

And if the bicycle is an e-bike, even better: the gradients are less scary, the distances seem to shorten and the fatigue is less ... discouraging!

The magic of assisted pedaling immediately makes itself felt: light and carefree I travel without fear the road that connects Orta San Giulio to Pella, on the opposite bank of the lake. There are about 14 km of cycle paths, paved sections, winding roads and ups and downs surrounded by coves, beaches and reed beds, historic villas and pine forests.
To admire the lake from above and take some panoramic photographs, I venture onto the path that leads to the ancient Buccione Tower or I walk along the road towards the Sacro Monte di Orta, always beautiful and evocative. But the Pella lakeside also offers a pleasant view, as does the small village of Ronco, lying on the edge of water, as in a nineteenth-century novel.

If it is true that there are so many ways to love the lake, following its shores by bicycle is one of the most healthy and regenerating, a true stress-free method, an authentic example of sustainable tourism, a symbol of gentle happiness and a lifestyle that is healthy and ecological.
So, it's appropriate to say, long life for the e-bike!

PS: to do like me, ask at reception, for all the guests of La Darbia there are, in fact, modern electric bicycles available
Carefree pedaling guaranteed ;)

A THOUSAND YEARS OF HISTORY

This is the extraordinary story of the Sacra di San Michele, perched on a rock spur, on the border between the Alps and the plain.
