A day to discover the Langhe? It’s as easy as drinking a glass of Barolo.

Life is too short to miss out on the Langhe! Certainly one of the best places in the world, in terms of landscape and gastronomy, so much so that UNESCO has listed it as a World Heritage Site. The scenic landscape of this strip of Piedmontese land stretches between soft hills embellished with small villages, castles, woods and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Neat and evocative panoramas crossed by the Tanaro river offer real treasures, precious products such as white truffle, hazelnuts and the best wines in the world.

The truth is that from La Darbia, in just over an hour, the Langhe can be easily reached and so, in one day, you can visit these enchanting places.
My favorite itinerary goes through places such as Barbaresco, with its imposing medieval tower and the extraordinary Enoteca Regionale, inside the deconsecrated church of San Donato. I also like to make a stop at the colorful «Cappella del Barolo», an ancient rural building constructed as a shelter for farmers and restored in 1999 by the artists LeWitt and Tremlett.

If I go up to the large square in La Morra I can then enjoy a breathtaking view of the velvety hills that produce red gold.
If you are seeking some photos to post on social media, there are unmissable possibilities such as the famous Lebanese cedar (which with its characteristic shape stands on top of a knoll) and the "Astemia Pentita", a wine cellar with a pop aesthetic. But I would also suggest the characteristic profile of the Serralunga castle and the now popular "Big Bench", giant benches scattered in panoramic points of the Langhe territory.

Among the things to do I suggest some of those that I have already experienced with extreme satisfaction: an e-bike ride among the hazel groves, a hot air balloon flight to contemplate the vineyards from above and interesting guided visits to the old wineries. Whilst in the Langhe you can contemplate the most beautifully designed cellars that the architecture of wine has managed to give us in recent decades, from the "Cube" of the Ceretto company to "La Brunella" in the Boroli cellars. But it is also always worth taking a tour in places where wine culture has been rooted for centuries such as the Einaudi farms and the Fontanafredda estate or the Verduno castle.
Also worthwhile is a visit to the Barolo corkscrew museum or to the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, a fortified building also famous for hosting the World White Truffle Auction at the beginning of November.
The beating heart of the Langhe is the city of Alba, with its medieval historic center, the hundred towers and fortified houses, while the beautiful village of Barolo, nestled in the valley between the hills, houses the majestic Falletti castle around which unravel cobbled streets, small shops and taverns.

I should add that in Barolo it is possible to end the day with a typical Piedmontese dinner, based on tajarin or agnolotti, veal with tuna sauce or mixed boiled meats, hazelnut pie or bunet… all washed down with a glass of Barolo or Dolcetto or Barbera (this tough choice is yours!).
Of course, on days like these, the diet can wait!
