It happens in the Orridi di Uriezzo, a true Italian canyon where nature demonstrates its powerful creativity.

Smooth and slippery walls, rocks shaped by water, tunnels that wind and meander, welcoming me into the bowels of the earth: an incredible sight that the Orridi di Uriezzo reserves for me, authentic canyons of the Antigorio Valley, deep gorges carved by the action of the streams which, thousands of years ago flowed downstream from the Toce Glacier.

What nature has left us is the result of centuries of erosion, the power of water has shaped the rocks just like the hands of a sculptor, creating cavities separated by narrow and winding tunnels that we can walk today. In fact, the disappearance of the glacier and the drying up of the streams have given way to a true dry canyon, a geological formation of extraordinary beauty.

The "Orrido Sud" is perhaps the most scenic: 200 meters long and at least 30 meters deep, it has soft shapes and contrasting colours. The high walls seem to bear the traces of the grooves produced by the swirling motion of the waterfalls. And when the light of the sun suddenly makes its way through the cracks in the rock, nature reveals its full majesty.

Before returning to La Darbia, I want to have another incredible experience: I head towards Maiesso and reach the so-called Marmitte dei Giganti, hemispherical cavities carved by the waters of the Toce river. The impetuous violence of the current, carrying sand and pebbles, has abraded the stone with a long work of erosion and has created a soft and sinuous surface. Thunderous waterfalls are nestled between rocks with rounded shapes, where the stream lays down creating green-blue bodies of water.

The relaxing sound of the flowing river, the pure water with intense colours, the effect of the rocks modeled by nature make me lose track of time: at the precise moment when I realize that it is time to return, I feel completely regenerated by the scene. In places like this one really has the feeling that the wonders of the earth can transmit the great positive energy that rises from the heart of the planet.
